Swatches are the fastest way to apply color to the artwork. You can create swatches that use the CMYK or RGB color modes or the LAB color mode. When you create a variety of shapes, you need a variety of fill and stroke colors. To change the stroke color of an object, you can use either a stroke swatch or a global process color from the Color panel or Swatches panel. You can also apply tints, gradients, patterns, and spot colors to swatches. If you assign a global process color to an object or text frame, you cannot edit the color in isolation mode. Using swatches can be helpful when creating art in Adobe Illustrator.
